Question:
Howdy all. Been away from the ng for awhile. I have a question concerning my Hahns Macaw, Quigley. He’ll be 5 months old on June 1st and I was wondering when he will get his coloration. All of the Hahns I’ve seen have a blue head and red on their wings, and Quigley has all green wings and some blue on top. Not that it matters at all, he could be purple with green pokadots as far as I’m concerned, but i’m just curious… Russ * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet’s Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet – Free!

Russ I think you’ll see more of the "adult" coloration beginning at a year or so of age, with gradual continuing change thru-out the following year. Doug

Ozzy, my 8 month old Hahn’s has quite the blue head and lots of red under his wings…I’ve noticed it increasing as he finishes the moult he’s been undergoing over the last couple months…When I got him at 4 months he just had a bit of the blue on the head. Won’t be long til yours gets his coloring i suspect.:) Oh, we named him appropriately… When we turn the stereo up a bit and either Ozzy Osbourne or Live are jamming he talks like mad…phrases he usually just mumbles come out clear as day!!!!!Guess he digs the tunes!
