Best Ozzy Guitarist

Question:

Fuck you.

Response:

Cool thread. I think while every guitarist Ozzy has ever played with is brilliant, it is incredible to see him with Tony again. The thing about Tony is that he is the myth, the legend, and all that…. but also about the most humble guy you could ever hear speak. There is no question Ozzy is realizing that. I must say it is quite fascinating to hear people talking about Ozzy playing with Rudolph & Michael Schenker, or whoever, when right in front of our eyes he may end up doing a huge Sabbath tour, and THAT’S what I want to see. I saw Zakk asked in late ‘92 why he was leaving Oz, he said, "well, considering that there is a possibilty of the master standing where I’ve been standing, I’m kinda firing myself basically, y’now…….and then laughed. He is a class guy IMO. He is a ripper player but knows his history and has respect. I’ve seen him on stage literally do the stuff Tony was doing on stage in the late 70’s and he rips! He has researched old Sabbath tapes and heard what some of us know Tony was doing way the hell back! But, as for the question of best Ozzy guitarist: I don’t think there is any question, Randy was Ozzy’s original and that is usually the essence of where creativity kicks in . Tony isn’t in the discussion of "Ozzy guitarists", he is in another world all together which is seperate from Ozzy’s solo music. I think all of Ozzy’s living guitarists would agree, Randy was it. I think those same people would agree that Tony is also it and Sabbath will always be the kings of advanced mind-bending metal. They can never be fully figured out, they were able to do so much. The Ozzy years have 8 albums and Live at Last, talk about diversity! These guys tried everything and figured out how to make it all rock! Bring on Sabbath w/ Ozzy! Ozzy talked Zakk back for Ozzmosis…

I think Randy was the best and better than Zack but he is longer with us and it is very sad. I think Joe is tied with Zakk and Jake is with Tony Iommi. And they all are talented people. I would like to hear more of the stuff that might be released he did with Steve Vai and that would be amazing to hear!!!! If there is any Ozzmosis demo’s with him please contact me.

I like Randy best because he sounds so damn good! Zakk and Jake are both excellent, but they still aren’t as good as Randy. Danny Shiflet "We plan ahead, that way we don’t have to do anything right now"-Valentine, Tremors

I doubt it if Randy was still alive that he would have still been playing with Ozzy! MiracleMan

Nope, I disagree. I don’t think Ozzy & Randy would still be together. Ozzy has said Randy was not into the whole rock star guitarist type thing. & on their last bus ride to Florida, before Randy’s death, Randy told Ozzy that he was wanting to move. He wanted to go into classical guitar. & in my opinion, Randy is my favorite. He’s the one that started the Blizzard Of Ozz!! *Katie *My Ozzy Osbourne Tribute*

Hell, if Randy was still alive, there wouldn’t be a Zakk Wylde or a Joe Holmes, or whoever. It would still be Ozzy and Randy. I mainly like Zakk’s style of playing. He can play the RANDY tuff and still add his own style to it.

Tony was the founder. How could Zaak be better? W/out Iommi there would be no Ozzy! My favorite axeman is definitely Randy…saw his mausoleum, met his Mom, etc. Mr. Rhodes was the stepping stone for Oz when he needed it most. And Zakk is just a wanna-be knockoff that’ll never come close to the achievements stolen from Randy by a premature death. Saw Zakk live 3 times & hated what he did to Randy’s leads. I’m no Jake E. Lee fan, but his take on these were sick & distorted bends as well. You call that a style? Well, do ya, punk?
