Response:
VANCOUVER, BC: Me? I’m 28 years old, playing for several years. Want to get out of the basement and onto the stage but needing experience in band dynamics and interaction. I have several original songs, mostly hard riff rock and moody acoustical stuff. I’d like some critical input, arrangement suggestions, etc. Looking for fellow mid-to-late twenties/early thirties guitar players (drummers, bassists, vocalists are welcome, too) who are interested in eventually getting a band together with the purpose of recording original music, doing demos, the whole nine yards. Maybe you’re like me and have tried different jobs and gone to school but just can’t seem to "find" yourself in that environment. See how far it can get on our own terms. Too old now to be playing "Hotel California" in smoky bars. Who’s interested in imitating other bands anyway? My preference is for rhythm guitar, I love to riff and carry the groove, but can play some lead. My ego is very firmly in check (where it belongs). A list of some bands I’m into is below, not necessarily in order, and all for different reasons: AC/DC (from Bon to Back in Black), Beatles, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Neil Young, Steve Earle, Dwight Yoakam (yup, that’s right), Sabbath, some Stones, (I like early rock ‘n roll in general), Zeppelin, early Metallica, blues/folk, oh, screw it, I can dig just about anything. Available evenings and most weekends. Have car, can travel. Drop me an Just picture yourself in a rusty, old van, sputtering along the transcan in the middle of a blizzard somewhere deep in the heart of Saskatchewan, huddled with four other guys, munching power bars and drinking cheap whiskey to keep warm, just itching to get onstage at some shitty club and blow them away. Sounds great, right? Let’s GO!
