Of course it is! People are about to barf form hearing alternative all the time. That’s why "semi-metal" bands are gaining in popularity. Marylin (sp?) Manson, Tool, and Korn are all in this category. That’s how heavy metal ALWAYS hits. Every single metal surge in popularity has had semi-metal ushering it in. 1968 Jimi Hendrix, The Who, etc. were popular and then WHAM! Black Sabbath hits a few years later! 1980… the punk resurgance hits (punk has always been semi-metal) then WHAM! you get Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and other early ’80s metal gods (no pun intended) opening the door for the heavy metal kings Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax (hair bands’ popularity didn’t hurt either). Those ’80s bands still have huge followings today, even in the heavy metal drought of the early to mid ’90s. Now it’s time for our revenge! Metallica is huge with a new (supposedly heavier) album coming later this year, Megadeth is coming out with a heavier album this summer, of course the Ozzy/Sabbath reunion, Pantera’s strong following, COC’s up and coming status, ditto for Type O Negative, and Motley Crue getting back together (even if they’re not as heavy as the others). Metal is on its way, this bloody day. You watch, metal will be as big in 2000 as it was in ‘85 if the trend continues. -"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Black Sabbath.
