Hey there, i’d like to get some advices on what the best tubes would be for: 1- Peavey 5150 head (5 12AX7 & 4 6L6) = for a really heavy tight hard edged metallica-esque sound 2- Fender Champ 12 (1 6L6 & 2 12AX7) = for getting the best out of that little amp 3- Hughes and Kettner ATS 120 A combo (2 ECC83) = for getting the most out of this superb combo. thanks for your suggestions and your amp wisdom. — The KID – You should never smoke in pajamas, You might start a fire ‘n’ burn yer face. -F.Z.

In my Champ I use 2 of the high gain Sovtek 12ax7 in the preamp, and the output I use a too-old mesa boogie 6L6 that came from God only knows what country. And that all goes through an Altair Power Attenuator before it gets to the speaker. Have you had any trouble with the cheap input jacks on your Champ buggering up on you?
