Question:
Hey everyone! I had an appointment at Thrilling Drilling in Bielefeld today… I brought a friend who had been wanting a navel piercing for six months but who was afraid… I had wanted a vertical hood, but wasn’t built for it. The piercing canal would have been too long. So I decided to get a horizontal instead. And if that hadn’t worked, I would have had an industrial done. I was determined not to leave the shop without a new hole or two! So I picked out a 14 ga titanium ring and while it was being autoclaved, I talked to Vanessa about the aftercare. Finally it was time… Vanessa and Coach do the piercings together, in a kind of nurse+doctor way
. Vanessa marked the holes, we checked the placement again, then she got the clamp telling me not to be scared of it which made me chuckle and tell her that (as a vet) I was used to much more brutal-looking instruments. While I was telling her about nosering insertion equipment for bulls, she stabbed me without warning which I think is good because you have no time to tense up, and "oww!". Definitely my most painful pierce yet, but it only lasted half a second or so. The ring was inserted which I didn’t even feel (they use IV catheters) and -done! I got up and my hands were shaking only a little… I picked up the pile of aftercare stuff and we went to the front and I remembered I needed a smaller ring for my tragus. I decided to take a 16 ga, 7 mm sss BCR with a turquoise bead and we went back to the piercing room and stretched my tragus from 18 to 16 ga (I like to take it slow, okay
). Then I asked Vanessa about an industrial and a rook that I plan to get done in the future (the addiction!), and both are possible! Yay! Something to look forward to! While I had been in there, my friend Silke had decided that since she was there, she might just as well get pierced there and then. Vanessa checked the appointments and there was enough time to do it, so she went through with it, which I think qualifies me for receiving a toaster oven? My friend has low blood pressure and had fainted after all three earrings she got done and after every time she has blood drawn, so she didn’t get up at once after the piercing was done (with a hollow needle this time). Coach gave her a dextrose sucker (multi-vitamin
) and Vanessa got a glass of water, and Silke was up after a short while, a bit white in the face but happy! We stayed around for a little longer and I promised to Vanessa that I’d get some info on "veterinary piercing" and send it to her. I’d say Thrilling Drilling are what a piercing studio should be like- piercers who take the time to talk to their customers, excellent chairside manners and hygiene, good coffee
, a vast collection of jewellery (so many barbells, so few holes… ). Their new counter leaves rust marks on your pants though which is the only negative thing I have to say
– and I wish I had gone there sooner! And btw., when I came back home, I went from the door straight to the computer and started typing
! The pierce isn’t bothering me at all. Now I’m waiting for the hubby to come home…

I just remembered there was a silly-looking rabbit clock on the wall, with moving eyes and a wagging carrot! An omen! I guess that means that I went to just the right place!! :<snip great story> : :Congrats on the new pierce!! Hope healing goes :fast and uneventful =) : :Caryn (handing over the toaster over!) Thank you! I hope it works on 230 Volts… The day after the pierce I was already asking myself if multiple hoods can be done…
So far it’s the most uneventfully healing pierce I’ve had. My conch is three months old and still makes me cross my eyes when bumped… but then again, isn’t that what a hood pierce *should* do? ;-D Nina – *Just when all seems fine and I’m painfree *You jab another pin, Jab another pin in me * Metallica, "Fixxxer" Please remove "damn.spam." to send me email
