Which of the following preamps will give the best metallica rhythm sound (similar to puppets, lightning, even justice)? 1 – Mesa studio preamp 2 – mesa v-twin rackmount preamp Only use it primarily for that sound so clean sound is not an issue. definately the Studio preamp. the V-Twin is voiced more like a Rectifier series head, while the Studio is voiced more like an older Mark II or III series head. het used a Mark II back then. go with the studio preamp! todd.
