Question:
It was my first big concert here in the US and it was awesome. I didn’t really listened to Korn, Kid Rock, Powermen 5000 and System of a Down. I just came there to see fucking Metallica and even though my neck hurts from banging and my lower back sore from standing for 9 hours it was fucking worth it. They really put on one hell of a show here in LA. I guess that’s how they got their fan base. Full of energy. I liked Powermen 5000 a little bit. I didn’t like the other bands. My friend got a pick from James or Kirk. He was one lucky dick. Awesome. Did anybody here go there too?
Response:
could almost swear I saw some ARMM posters on this group. this proves me wrong.

I’m just pleased he was able to complete the header with out using the "F" word. To some it’s offensive. To others it’s a good warning of inarticulate rambling. > [...] > Someone stole your vocabulary while you were at the concert.

So? Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo are guitar heroes to many people, and people don’t fawn over being given the drumsticks they use. I feel sorry for you. Metallica is hideous. They only appeal to poor white uneducated wiggers. Their musuc sucks and so do their tones. Jeff

He certainly is sporting an effeminate look these days. Gay or straight, he isn’t much of a guitarist, in my book.

Response:
Well, I can’t dispute the married part, but he has done his part in dressing in a certain androgenous way that could lead some to think he is perusing "alternative" lifestyles. While Hetfield is a great rhythm player for his genre, I don’t find Hammett’s solos to be inspiring at all. He seems to noodle endlessly with minor pentatonic scales with little technique or style, and relies on the wah pedal (while playing his minor pentatonic scales) I mean, nothing against pentatonics. I use them a lot, mixed with other scales and modes, but all of Kirk’s licks sound the same. He’s just not that good a guitarist. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->Nick > >I heard the rumour that Kirk is gay. > >Could that be true? > He certainly is sporting an effeminate look these days. > Gay or straight, he isn’t much of a guitarist, in my book.

The notes he chooses to play are horrible. He’s so awful, I have to laugh when I hear him solo. His tone has to be the worst ever recorded. -j
Response:
I’m not disputing your first statement simply because it’s too damn funny. Metallica did make themselves look like a bunch of bisexuals on Load and Re-Load. But enough about that. Hammett’s lead playing peaked about 11-12 years ago. Kill ‘Em All was almost all fast Pentatonic licks, on Ride The Lightning he had obviously improved, Puppets and Justice we’re as good as he ever got, then it’s all downhill. The best example of him doing something truly interesting is his solo in Blackened (off of Justice), he said himself it was the hardest thing he ever had to write and it is a tricky solo to master. The wah adds absolutely no expression to his playing, he does the same damn thing with it every time. That’s my rambling for the day. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Well, I can’t dispute the married part, but he has done his part in > dressing in a certain androgenous way that could lead some to think he > is perusing "alternative" lifestyles. > While Hetfield is a great rhythm player for his genre, I don’t find > Hammett’s solos to be inspiring at all.
