: : I think that Tim Archibald who plays with Peter Wolfe and the House Party : Five winds up with my vote. He won the Boston Music Awards for 4 or 5 years : in a row…he is one of the most innovative performers I have ever heard on : bass. The time and devotion he has put into the Boston Music scene is : evident by the crowds he draws in. : — : Kathy Kennedy aka Otter Woman : Live life on the Beauty Path, and at all time seek to increase the Beauty : that surrounds you. Then, you will be truly happy!… I’m new to this newsgroup but I’d like to offer my own opinion anyway. With all the stuff I’ve heard over the years the bassist that has impressed me the most was and is Cliff Burton. His work with Metallica up until the time he was killed in the bus accident is amazing. He worked at creating melodies with the bass so that it would not only be a back-up instrument but could be used to hold the melody itself. When you listen to stuff that he played on (especially Kill ‘Em All) it sounds like he is playing his own tune yet he also complimented the rhythm, lead, and percussion at the same time. — I love the smell of Napalm in the morning. It smells like… Victory. –Col. Killgore "Apocalypse Now"

YEEESSS!! High Five across the ‘Net. Another Cliff Burton fan! The first song i learned to play was Master of Puppets. Cliff was just awesome. (points to the three posters on his wall depicting Cliff and the Kill ‘Em All/Ride The Lightning/Master of Puppets sheet music on his shelf) Pick? What pick? We don’t need no stinking pick! Chris
