Pat boones metal record..

Question:

I bought it on a dare. You’ve gotta get it! It’s big band music, but its a collecter’s item to be sure.It features Dio, Richie Blackmore, Dweezil Zappa, and others.Dio even sings bakground on Holy Diver! You talk about music that will break the ice! This is it.From the opening take on Another Thing Comin’ to Stairway to Heaven this album is nothing but a barrel of laughs! For novelty purposes only!

Response:

Just got Pat Boone’s Metal Cd, and I have to warn you not to play it for the first time while driving a car.  I put it on Crazy Train and nearly wrecked my car because I was laughing my ass off!  I have to admit that this cd is a tremendous change for the orginal songs, but worth it if you want a great laugh.

Response:

>Pat boone has made a metal cover album.. It covers bands like Alice >Cooper, Metallica, Kiss, etc.. He did it (according to a CBC interview) >to enlighten people outside of metal fandom to the music that is Heavy >Metal and to prove that it, indeed, a worthy musical form. And also so he >could get a chance to be "hip" again. >It’s called PAT BOONE: IN A METAL MOOD.

I heard Howard Stern play a portion of all of the tracks on his radio show a couple days ago. Including his remake of Ozzy’s "Crazy Train." I just have to say, I don’t understand what market they are shooting for. None of the tracks sound like metal music.  It has female black background singers saying "crazy crazy train" in a finger snapping lounge act style for example. I don’t think a metal fan would like it. For another example, it has "Stairway to Heaven" in flute. I just don’t see why it was made. It might be funny if it was suppose to be a comedy album, but everyone is talking about it like it is a legitimate effort at metal music. But in my opinion, it is just sad. Just my opinion. Sincerely, Jeff Howell
