Question:

I’ll reply to each question individually below… > Do any of you rent (alone or with bandmates) a rehearsal space?

Yes, with my band… > 1. What city are you renting in? Minneapolis, MN > 2A.. How much space do you rent?

About 150 square feet (10×15 room) > 2B. What is the total monthly cost for that space?

$230.00 monthly, including heat, air conditioning, off street parking, loading dock access, and digital video security > 3. What made you decide to shell out the $$?

No one owns a home with a useable rehearsal area. > 4. What services, in addition to the space lease, are available to you

Promotional help (bookings), CD Recording, management (all at a fee) > 5. Do you have 24/7 access?

no… the building is open from 9AM to 3AM, 7 days per week. > 6. Do you NEED 24/7 access?

We thought we did, but it’s worked out fine. > 7. Are there services that you need/want that you can’t get?

We can’t rent a PA, or upgrade our current PA on a temporary basis.  I’d love some dedicated recording space we could use for a fee. Hope this helps! Corey

<< I’m evaluating a business decision and I really need some feedback. Do any of you rent (alone or with bandmates) a rehearsal space? If so, I have several questions for you: 1. What city are you renting in?   My bands used to rent in San Diego. 2A.. How much space do you rent? As little as needed due to rip off costs.   2B. What is the total monthly cost for that space? We have paid as much as 275.00 and as little as 80 bucks for an office but when ever you find a sweetheard deal the land lord does not stay stupid for long and realizes other bands are getting ripped off by rehersal studio’s and will be glad to pay more. Most the time half of what a real studio would cost. Just enough to keep you from doing anything real in Music. No demo’s just pay rent. No wonder i never made it. 3. What made you decide to shell out the $$? Industrial space and office Space either being zoned out of the picture or the owners terrified that a metal band might damage their property. Never mind we just wanted a place to play and never mind we were true professionals. 4. What services, in addition to the space lease, are available to you   Throw in a soda machine you will rake in every sent left the guys have dying of thirst in the "air Condistioned" rooms you skimp on and keep turned down as much as possible. 5. Do you have 24/7 access? Most places we did ya but not always. 6. Do you NEED 24/7 access? It’s a real bitch when you don’t Bands keep odd hours. 7. Are there services that you need/want that you can’t get? Ya a place to jam that will not break you. We don’t want frills, they cost us more.  just AC in the summer. otherwise good ventilation. Thanks in advance for your replies.  Obviously I am studying the feasibility of a rehearsal studio/recording studio business in this area.  Your feedback will help a lot! Regards, Jim
