I don’t recall any ‘vintage’ doubleneck ‘Pauls, or ‘twinkling lights and rhinestones’ models.  Any idea what year they were? Kap’n "America is the land of the free.  Free means you don’t pay" -George Metesky

Response:

KISS performed to a packed Freedom Hall last night, leaving fans satisfied and frenzied after two blistering hours of vintage heavy metal and three encore numbers. At the top of their form was opening act Alice In Chains, whose sound and fans fit like a glove the music and audience of the headliner. AIC performed all of their popular numbers and played for about 70 minutes. Opening with Strutter, KISS continued to play all their old favorites like laying down winning hands in a game of Hearts. Gene Simmons did not leave the audience guessing who the God of Thunder really is with his trademark fire breathing and blood spitting. He also flew like a bat with the help of a few stage technicians and sturdy rope! Ace Frehley played his trademark "burning guitar" solo at the end of Shock Me, and at the end of his solo the smoking guitar flew up into the trusses overhead! Ace also was playing vintage Les Paul guitars, including two doubleneck 12/6 string models, one with twinkling lights and rhinestones, the other matching his cherry sunburst LP with creme trim. At the end of the show they brought the house down with the ending of Black Diamond. Peter Criss’s drum riser rose 20 feet into the air revealing a pair of oriental style golden lions hanging from the front like a banner. Simmons on his own platform, and Frehley and Paul Stanley on another, each at opposite sides of the stage, rose along with the drum riser, and the guitarist’s platforms hovered out and over the front row audience. The finale was replete with fire columns and pirotechnics, not to mention a great light show. This is truly a concert event not to be missed. Kiss’ music has always been a love or hate proposition, but their superb showmanship is without peer. — Blair F. Pemberton My opinions are just that. It wasn’t me – George Thorogood
