I am GOING TO have my MRI tomorrow (Saturday!)

Question:

Well we DID tell you to find a fantasy, now didn’t we ?????? — Cyberhugs……. Response:

Probably the sound is piped in via earphones similar to ones that are used on airlines.  It is a flexible plastic tube and the sound is transmitted via an air column. You’re gonna do fine,  Kim!  Just remember to relax,  stay focused on your fantasy,  let your mind go somewhere nice and pleasant.  If you feel yourself starting to get panicky,  just breathe slow and deep and really concentrate on your breathing.  Think about each breath,  in….slow and deep…..out…..slow and empty your lungs….. I’m claustrophobic, and that’s kinda like what I did. I didn’t look at the machine *at all* and just kind of slid in there with my eyes shut. No blindfold, that would freak me out. Just my eyes shut and I was careful not to move around and feel the edges, so it was easy to imagine I was in a big dark room. Of course, the valium helped too though  ;)   And when I was done I didn’t look at the machine, either, so I can get another one w/o freaking out. Good luck! -kk   >><<<><>http://members.home.net/karensears<><>>><< – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –

Good luck.  I wouldn’t count on being able to listen to music thru headphones or earphones, however.  You will be inside a huge and very powerful electromagnet.  Walkmans, CD players and the like will most likely not work or, for that matter, even be allowed in the machine.  To do so would put you in danger as the machine, once turned on, will pull anything metalic directly to it’s center with great force.  That’s why they have you remove all jewelry, metal buttons etc before going in. You should do OK with the mask.  Just breath deep and think of the ocean surf or something. Good luck

As has been discussed earlier this week, many places DO provide music in the machine.  So as long as you have their format, tape or CD you can provide to your own taste.  Their player and headphones. Jo

Good luck… just knowing all about how long things will be happening should help.  Try to relax and get into that music.  :) Best regards, Check out our website too–do you love oak furniture? http://www.barnfurniture.com
