Question:
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has used the Fishman Pro-EQ Platinum for bass. I will be using it on electric bass. The features I like about it are: idiot light when Phantom Power is in use, EQ, Mute Switch, Ground Lift, Signal Clip light. I have some worries about it’s large use of plastic, and roadworthiness…also it’s expense at $160. I looked at the SansAmp and I didn’t think it had the idiot lights or a mute…however it is metal, but a bit more expensive, and highly recommended. Any other pedals have the lights, and mute switch like the Fishman? Thanks, Dan

While parts of the exterior of the Fishman are plastic, the main case is metal (front face, back, recessed side areas), and the plastic used is thick and is very heavy-duty, doesn’t feel like the kind of "plastic" as we might term in the derogatory sense. I have gigged one out and would have no worry about road-worthiness. I just added them to the stuff I sell, but I also use one. Nice feature set. An all-metal alternative could be one of the Raven Labs units, depending on your needs, which I’ve also used and started carrying several months ago. I use the Fishman and love it. you can’t beat the 5 band EQ in a direct box, and the compressor is pretty good for a pedal. I have no complaint at all about it, and I’ve owned the MXR m80 and tried the sansamp. It’s really tough, I don’t even think about it being plastic. Mark
