I like a lot of what the Stones have done. Have they released any studio albums since "Steel Wheels"? I didn’t care for that one, but I’d rather see them release something I don’t like all that much than see them turn into a Beach Boys like nostalgia spoof of themselves. I think they’ve figured out how to still be a band even during the long periods of time when they no longer appear to be together. So for a band that got tagged "bad boys" right from the start, they’re actually pretty sharp. There’s a band that even rode out the Disco era, and instead of getting beat by it, they threw out some dance songs that were somewhat successful as I recall. And you listen to albums from that era, when I think many hardcore Stones fans despised them the most, and they sounded like they were having a blast playing that stuff. I’ve got a lot more respect for them than I do for most of the bands that didn’t manage to survive for one reason or another. Pete
Response:
The Stones have "staying power" they make music, their styles change to refelct the times yet they remain the same ie some girls, was a good club dance tune that could get play in a disco, or an old time stone fans would like it. The hardcore fans cant hate the "un stonelike " music because its the boys playing it, yep they do look and sound like they are having fun they do what they do best rock & roll. They put on a great show thourgh i doubt ill spend 300$ to go see them, I heard thats what tix are going for in giant stadium (field level) maybe ill go for a nosebleed, and try to work my way down well see. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->I can remember when mick once said "I dont want to be doing >satisfaction when im 40 yrs old" and someone brought it up to him at >a news confrence, his reply "that was a low one" >I am a huge stones fan, and they still rock my socks off. >Steve L. >I like a lot of what the Stones have done.
