Question:

I’d like to know opinions about these two heads. Pros and cons. I’m into heavy-rock music, blues. My influences are Queen, Metallica, Pink Floyd…. I want an amp that feels good, sounds good, as TONE, and gives me from crystal clean sounds to full bodied sound heavy-metal.

Response:

I actually own a Laney VH100R. I love it. VERY versitile. I have the treble on the clean channel at 3 coz it’s on the bright side but roll off the treble for a fatter sound. 1st OD stage is sweeet! The distortion channels are awesome too, but this amp is not for death metal. Has more than enough gain but not that sort of tone. I use this amp for country, soul, funk, blues, rock, hard rock. Oh ,and the features on the back are endless. The reliability of the amp beats marshall hands down too. The speakers I use with this amp are 2 Celestion Vintage 30’s. I wouldn’t recommend a 4×12 cabinet. Go for a 2×12. It’s so loud and the best tone is at gig volume. Email me if you want any more info.
