Best replacement pickups for J-bass?

Question:

If anyone out there is interested in selling a 4 or 5 string music man or

Response:

I have four Fender Jazz Basses all equiped with EMG model J pickups & the EMG BTC system and swear by those components. Each bass has its own individual personality but the EMG stuff really brings their personalities to the forefront. One of my Jazzes is a fretless and it tends to be a little bright but I usually tone it down with a little EQ. Other than that I feel that the EMG’s are really an all purpose pickup. B y the way, because they’re low impedance you can usually go direct to a board in the studio with really nise results! Check ‘em out! www.emginc.com

Response:

I have two Fender/Squier jazz basses, and in both of them I find to give a good all-around (FAT, PUNCHY, bottom end) tone, is DiMarzio jazz pickups.        I play death metal, so I need a well varried sound, and this is what I find to help me achieve what i’m looking for.        Not to mention a good compressor, or good maximizer; ( Behringer puts out two exceptional pieces)

Response:

I have had great luck with EMG’s. All of the great basses, with very few exceptions, will have EMG’s or Bartolini’s. If they don’t, they have something either made by those companies for them, or something based on their designs. Also, check out Bill Lawrence pickups. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > Still looking for opinions on the best J-bass pickups to replace the standard > ones.
