Ozzy sang "Heaven + Hell"????

Question:

>Danny >Well, the last time I checked Ozzy was fronting Black Sabbath so neener

neener NEEEEENER! You’re not goofy? In that case, you have some awful piss poor reading skills. I never said he wasn’t fronting them. >Hail Satan & The Magik of Black Sabbath! 666

Danny Shiflet "I walk the earth, another day The wicked one, that comes this way Savior to my own, devil to some Mankind falls, something wicked comes"-Iced Earth, The Coming Curse

Response:

I know that Karen. But from several songs and albums are older versions. Mostly more or less the same riffs with different vocal melodies and lyrics. For example the Seventh Star was originally recorded with Jeff Fenholt and was called Star Of India. The Eternal Idol already existed with Ray Gillen before Glenn Hughes joined. And of Junior’s eyes there also is a pre-Never Say Die version with Dave Walker. Moonflower

Response:

Moonflower, The version of heaven and hell with Ronnie James Dio is the original version. Dio wrote the lyrics to all of the songs on the Heaven and Hell album. Karen

Jason, very wise words! I do not know how Heaven and Hell with Ozzy would sound. But the idea is utterly intriguing. I guess Ozzy is able to make something very personal of this new version. I think it would sound so different from the original that we wouldn’t even guess it was written by another vocalist. What would be even more interesting is hearing the original version of Heaven And Hell before Dio joined the band. But I am not even sure if Ozzy has written a singing line above this song in that time. It would be fascinating idea to know he had though. It would have been something coming from another solar system than Dio is living in. It could even be more astonishing than comparing the difference between the Ozzy and Dave Walker versions of Junior’s Eyes, which are both fascinating, but have extremely little in common. Although I still prefer the Ozzy version. The reticence of his pathos, and the cutting tone in his high sounding voice, make clear that Ozzy treated these lyrics as a very personal issue. Maybe he was singing more for himself than for the album buying audience. And this was just a way to hide behind the wall he build behind his fragile soul Moonflower
