Yes, Randy was the best guitarist Ozzy had. Randy was better than Zakk.

Randy’s solo were like mini-compostions. Only Randy really understood what was going on in them, and only Randy could really expand on his solos, becuase he was the one who wrote them. Imagine someone re-writing bits of Bach? Zakk was okay, but he tried to outdo Randy at his own game, and they didn’t work, because he didn’t know what to put next, do you get my drift? It’s like only Randy could know what to put in his solos if he expanded them, because he wrote them. So I think Ozzy’s new axeman understands what he’s doing and doesn’t mess with the master himself. Out of all the screwball fantasies and lineups on the usenet wishlist, this one is the best. I see it as Iommi laying the rythym for the other two to showboat and then the other two laying down to let Iommi rip. Two globules blown away while the master survives!
