It has nothing to do with philosophy. Nearly ALL Hondas do that. My wipers started showing silver 6 years ago! No CRX was ever made in the US. But, it does appear to be a design flaw that continues to remain unfixed. — ‘89 Supercharged CRX Si | Mark A. Honda wipers are probably the lousiest part of the car and not easy to cheaply replace either. What I found after years of hasles with 2 of them is that its best to convert to the ansco standard width plastic wiper assembly which hooks on the existing arm. After that you can easily replace the blade only with standard refills which is both better and cheaper

Typing as if double-clutching, DJJJWHITE shifted down to post this message in rec.autos.makers.honda: D# …and how can it be restored?? Tremclad rust paint! I put wiper arm covers on my car, which eliminates the unsightly paint cracking. And remember to oil the stupid little arm spring or it will rust and you have to buy another wiper arm. :( — Alan "Go juice yourself."–Andrea Toole

: i have a 91 integra and mine are starting to fade also; but only on the : front wipers. i think it’s caused by wind friction and flying debris, : but who knows. it’s a big mystery.
: the best way to remedy the problem is to paint it. i forgot which kind : of paint you’re supposed to use, though. My ‘89 Integra had that problem bad when I first got it. A can of Tremclad was a perfect match to the original, I later panted them white to match the body color. I’ll probably do something similar with my Civic Si since they’re just starting to fade as well.

My friend and I both have 94 integras. But the black metal plating on all 3 wipers has worn off leaving ugly silver spots. The same thing is happening to my 95 Camry but my integra is fine. The only difference that I can think of is that I park in an indoor garage at work so my car rarely is left out in the sun all day. Does sun exposure cause the metal plating to wear or are these isolated cases. thanks, mike
