Can anyone think of some artists/bands that have a great tone or sound but put out less than great music? —  Regular naps prevent old age…..  especially if you take them while driving. Jeremy

any garage band mixing two weeks experience and a Gibson Les Paul/Marshall half-stack. on the inverse, I can think of a few bands with good music but horrible tone.

Sure. <insert name of this week’s country sensation here> -Bob

Response:

Restricting the field to professional bands, I would have recount a recent concert where Billy Squier appeared.  They rolled out several vintage Gibsons, had great tone, but absolutely sucked.   What a waste of good gear and tone.

I gotta agree.   Some people like them, but I never saw the appeal of that band.  And one year for Christmas, I got the same damn Kiss Lp from both of my brothers, and I hated Kiss.  So I had to pretend that I liked the same gift that I hated twice.
